My grandfather served aboard a Navy ship. He always said his ship number was 834. This is the only ship I can find (that meets the description) that matches. He was wounded on his ship during WWII. I salute the "Greatest Generation" and those who served and are currently serving. Thank you!

Got to love Florida when we transferred home port to Mayport Fl. in 1959.
So after retiring from the Camden N.J. fire Dept. as a Captain in 1987 I moved to Florida and never looked back.
Loving it here and will be here til death do us part.

The layout of the guestbook is terrible. I do not want to log in again to attempt to find my shipmates back in the 50s. You lost me.

Ed Gill---My brother Mike was also on the Turner, must have been him. I don't remember any damage to me. I think Ernest Walker(from Tennessee) was the ships laundry person at the time. Nice to hear from somebody who remembers the name....

Served as yeoman in 1949 during one-year enlistment. Also throttled the whaleboat in Newport -- mostly picking up tipsy officers in the fog. Enjoyed the company of shipmate Nick Sarafolean. I haven't visited Commander Turner's grave here in Baltimore as yet, but plan to do so. Greetings to all.

I'm looking for any information on one of your shipmates: Frank Dwyer who was on the ship 1947-53. I have a picture of him with a couple of his Navy Buddies-that are on the roster.
